Just over a year ago, Ayala Foundation and STEPS Scholarship Foundation organized the fundraising event “An Intimate Evening with Stella Abrera & American Ballet Stars” which featured world-class ballet performers led by Ms. Stella Abrera, the first Filipino-American principal dancer of the acclaimed American Ballet Theatre.
With the gracious contributions of all our sponsors and partners, the initiative was a huge success and generated incredible support for CENTEX – Ayala Foundation’s holistic education program that creates model public school learning environments for Filipino children from economically disadvantaged families. The event’s proceeds funded various developmental activities in the two pioneer schools in Manila and Batangas. One of these is the CENTEX After-Hours Program which will now be able to expand through a dance studio to be built in the Batangas campus. Through this program, many young lives have been transformed for the past decade through excellent training in music and dance.
Inspired and moved by the positive impact created by last year’s initiative, Ms. Stella Abrera will return this 2019 for “Stella Abrera & The Rising Stars of American Ballet Theatre featuring James Whiteside, Principal Dancer, American Ballet Theatre,” which will be held on November 7 and 8 at the Maybank Performing Arts Theatre in Taguig, Metro Manila, Philippines. This 2nd fundraising event for CENTEX will feature American Ballet Theatre principal dancers Ms. Stella Abrera and Mr. James Whiteside together with the American Ballet Theatre Studio Company. Under the artistic direction of Mr. Sascha Radetsky, the ABT Studio Company is a classical ensemble of 12 outstanding young dancers.
Their repertoire is strong but dynamic, ranging from classical masterworks to new and original pieces created by a wide variety of choreographers. With these strong artists, we are confident that the Filipino audience will once again witness world-class talent.
