The Museum of Contemporary Art and Design (MCAD) presents The Vexed Contemporary, an exhibition that includes 16 Filipino artists whose practices lend themselves to a global compass, operating using an artistic language that aims to challenge perennial characterizations when represented on local and global platforms.

The exhibition, more importantly, asks questions regarding how contemporary art processes produced a multifaceted paradigm, the challenges of contemporaneity and how the artist treads the precarious balance of a global practice without falling into the mode of essentialism. The exhibition shares work put together to create an environment of participation and mediation, of visual and spatial challenges.
