Trek Valdzino, born in 1968 in Bulacan, Philippines, is a highly accomplished artist with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Painting from the University of the Philippines. He has a diverse range of experiences in the art world, including working as an art instructor at various institutions, such as the International School of Manila and Third Space Arts & Laboratory. Valdzino has also contributed to the preservation and promotion of art and culture through his apprenticeship at the Metropolitan Museum of Manila and participation in seminars organized by the National Commission for Culture and Arts (NCCA).
Throughout his career, Valdzino has showcased his artistic talent through numerous individual exhibitions, starting with “Bubblegum State” in 1991 and culminating in recent exhibitions like “Beguiling Temptation” in 2022 and “Temporal Dislocation” in 2019. He has also been an active participant in group exhibitions both in the Philippines and internationally, including notable events like Artfair Philippines and various shows at Galleria Duemila.
Valdzino has received recognition for his work, including being a Shell Philippines Shell Art Competition Finalist in 1998 and receiving the Jurors Choice award from Philip Morris International at the Philippine Art Awards in 1994. His commissioned works, including those for MTV Philippines and Kai Tak International Airport in Hong Kong, attest to his versatility and talent as an artist.
Furthermore, Valdzino has engaged in collaborative projects, such as the performance and installation work “Sightings (Le Corbeau Rouge)” with Sandra Palomar and collaborative painting exhibitions with artists like Popo San Pascual.
