Close on the heels of Arte Bettina’s recently concluded show on Unravelling Bettina: Figuration Now, now comes its purported antithesis and supposed antagonist: Non-Figuration or Non-Objective Art. On 2 July, Arte Bettina unravels State of Abstraction.

The artists mine the plastic power and energy of their material, demanding from it an immensely complex vocabulary of shapes and forms, and a direct communication that transcends the literal interpretation of the visible world and visual data. Instead, the abstract artist’s eye is transfixed on the immaterial and the spiritual: the weight and density of line, space, form, light; the apprehension of rhythm, balance tension, and the tangibility of texture, in counterpoint with that indispensable faith in the mystery and force of color.

Unravelling Bettina: State of Abstraction opens on Tuesday, 2 July at 6 pm. Featuring the works of Allain Hablo, Beatrix Syjuco, Binong Javier, Dennis Morante, Eddie Santillan, Edwin Wilwayco, Fitz Herrera, Janice Liuson-Young, Jay Ragma, Leopoldo Aguilar, Meneline Wong, Nestor Vinluan, Rax Bautista, Rico Lascano, Ritche Yee, Ross Capili, and Tiny Nuyda.
