To celebrate International Women’s History Month, Ayala Museum’s Youth on Stage presents “Women in Opera”. The concert gives a glimpse of the characters and psyches of 16 operatic heroines based on the works of Verdi, Donizetti, Mozart, Bernstein, Debussy, Bellini, to name a few.
The event is a musical feat as it puts onstage four of the country’s top young singers who will essay the 16 roles. The foursome is headed by Stefanie Quintin, second prize winner (no first prize) in the Second Asean Vocal Competition (professional category) held in Hong Kong. With her are sopranos Myramae Meneses, who just graduated from the prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, Anna Migallos, whose voice has been described as “liquid gold” by some critics in London, where she graduated from the Royal School of Music, and 20-year-old Nerissa de Juan, a student at the UST Conservatory of Music who is playing Maria Clara in Cultural Center of the Philippines production of Felipe de Leon’s opera Noli Me Tangere.
The sopranos will sing the arias of, among others, Lucia from Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor, Cunegonde in Bernstein’s Candide, Manon in Massenet’s Manon, Donna Elvira in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Violetta in Verdi’s La Traviata to name just a few. Assisting them is the multi-awarded pianist Gabriel Paguirigan.

Concerts are FREE SEATING. In case of standing room only (SRO) status, SRO ticket holders are limited to a designated area in the concert venue.
