Signatures — 7th International Live Art and Performance Festival
The 7th edition of LAPSody – International Live Art and Performance festival will take place at the Theatre Academy in Helsinki between February 21st and 23rd.
What is a signature? How does it come into being? Is it authentic? Is it forged? How do you sign an ephemeral artwork? Sixteen established and emerging artists will showcase their work during LAPSody while exploring the topic of Signatures, this year’s festival theme.
Join us in this unique opportunity to discover both Helsinki-based practitioners and international artists visiting Finland for the first time. From Indonesia to Portugal, Cyprus or Australia, Signatures’ lineup will introduce audiences to different styles and approaches to live art and performance.
Boxing, poetry, motherhood, an architectural sound object, snow, playful encounters, and much more will mark these three days of performances.
The festival lineup features Kelvin Atmadibrata (ID/UK), Soufïa Bensaïd (TN/CA), Antonín Brinda (CZ), Claude Boudeau (FR), Patrícia Corrêa (PT/BE), Giovanna Esposito Yussif (FI), Sylwia Gorak (PL), Nerisa Guevara (PH), Harold Hejazi (CA/FI), Casey Jenkins (AU), Padungksak Kochsomrong (TH), Petros Konnaris (CY), Nils Titus Östbrant (SE/FI) and Ignat Burdo (CL/FI), Suva (IN/FI), Michalis Shammas (CY/NL), Juha Valkeapää (FI), and Anniken Weber (NO).
LAPSody is an international festival organized every two years by the MA students in Live Art and Performance Studies (LAPS) at the Theatre Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki. For the 2019 edition, LAPSody is collaborating with the Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) and the artist cooperative Myymälä2.
