Interrogating Assumptions of Existence

“Proof of Life” is a group exhibition featuring the works of Bea Alcala, Sam Feleo, and Althea Tamoria, curated by Marz Aglipay at JStudio.

Artists Bea Alcala, Samantha Feleo, and Tekla Tamoria invite us to bear witness to their exhibition “Proof of Life”. Each artist presents a case or evidence of life, whether it is to broach the idea of life from something as small organism, species, or even an inanimate object, in order to stretch the viewer’s understanding or acceptance of the fact that the human race is but a mere cog in the hierarchy of life.

Featured in this exhibition are Samantha Feleo’s sculptures that capture our imagination through the hybridity of her medium made of clay and artificially-grown crystals encased in geometric glass domes. Bea Alcala’s vignettes of sea foams on canvas that are augmented with resin cast shells placed on top of them; And a curious installation by Tekla Tamoria called “The Wall.”

The exhibition’s opening reception is set to take place on 27 October 2020 at 4 PM and can be viewed virtually on JStudio’s FB page to ensure proper social distancing within the gallery.
