A butterfly transitions from one life to another. In between its two lives, we are held in awe by the mystery that transforms it in its cocoon, from a caterpillar to a butterfly, wondering what it dreams of in the silence and solitude of its shell, and celebrates with it in its triumph over confinement and the death of its first and simpler life.
Aze Ong has always been inspired by mystery. Discovering the harmony of color, patterns, and light since she first started using a crochet needle in her grade school days, she realized the mystery of creations and what her purpose and calling in life would be, thus discovering herself as well. By the time she graduated with a degree in Mass Communication from Assumption College, she already knew what her life’s work should be.
As a butterfly helps the life cycles of flowers continue by pollination as it flies from flower to flower, Aze believes in the mysteries that one can continue to discover as one flies from one life experience to another. On April 14 to 27, Aze once more shares with us the mystery and joy of creating, in her solo exhibit entitled “Hiwaga”, at The Crucible Gallery, 4th level SM Megamall Building A, Mandaluyong City.
“Hiwaga” opens on April 14, Tuesday, 6 p.m. with a performance by Daloy Dance Company. For inquiries, call 6356061.
