Duality in Dialogue

Paulina Luz Sotto

2025 marks Paulina Luz’s decade-long foray into the world of visual art. Celebrating this defining milestone, the artist presents Duality in Dialogue at Galleria Nicolas Greenbelt, a bold reflection on inheritance and evolution. The newest exhibit gathers two parallel imageries in one narrative. The groovy, geometric abstractions continue to serve as a loving ode to National Artist Arturo Luz, her grandfather. The funky, cartoonish portraits emerge from a freer and more playful space of expression.

In contrast, her pop-art-inspired portraits reshape her signature mold and animate it with spontaneity, oddity, and curiosity. Vibrantly stylized faces emerge against bold backdrops of color. The characters are whimsical and confident, guided by instinct yet complete in vision.

Paulina Luz Sotto is a Filipino painter whose works explore abstraction, rhythm, and the gentle joy of form. The granddaughter of National Artist Arturo Luz, she continues his legacy of balance and precision while creating her own language marked by a contemporary wit, spontaneity, and warmth. Over the past decade, Paulina has moved fluidly between geometric abstraction and playful portraiture. Both reflecting creative discipline and freedom, her art speaks of harmony found in contrasts: structure and flow, tradition and individuality, order and instinct.

“Duality in Dialogue” by Paulina Luz opens at Galleria Nicolas Greenbelt on November 20, Thursday, with an Artist Reception at 4 pm.

The exhibit runs until November 30. Galleria Nicolas Greenbelt is located at 📍3F, Greenbelt 5, Legazpi Street, Makati City.
