Art writing for media is a two-day immersive writing workshop that caters to writers who want to branch into topics concerning visual arts with the intention of being published.
Topics to be covered:
Day 1 – 20 July, Saturday
Part 1 Discussion: Writing about art accessibly with Gwen Bautista
a.) Choosing a topic
b.) Pitching
c.) Choosing the publication or media platform to write for
d.) Finding your voice
e.) Writing techniques and approaches
Part 2 Art-walk: Viewing art with the intention to write with Marz Aglipay
a.) Guide to looking at art
b.) Understanding the intention of the artist or exhibition
c.) What to look for when resources are limited
d.) Things to be mindful of when at the gallery
Part 3: Writing

One-on-one assessment of written output
Part 2: Editing and Pitching
a.) Self-editing practices
b.) Formatting an article to be publish-ready
c.) Mock pitching
d.) Consultation
Part 3: Out-of-workshop application and mentorship
Participants are encouraged to pitch an article to Art+. Successful pitches will be considered for publishing on either online or print editions of Art+ Magazine.
