In Ass-Backwards Into the Sublime, Alfonso Recto explores his freewheeling process. The past few months of quarantine have allowed him to meander into previously unexplored creative spaces. Unwittingly freed from the distractions and the ebb and flow of pre-quarantine life, the artist has found the time to meditate upon a more varying set of themes.
Each of the eight pieces here represents a wandering onto a different path, an exploration of different dispositions and temperaments, tied together with the artist’s distinct visual language.
