Good versus evil has been a central theme in human storytelling, philosophy, and moral discourse throughout history. At its core, this dichotomy reflects the struggle between opposing forces that shape our understanding of morality. Good is often associated with compassion, integrity, and altruism, while evil is characterized by cruelty, deceit, and selfishness. These opposing forces manifest not only in epic tales of heroes and villains but also in everyday decisions, prompting individuals to navigate complex moral landscapes.

Philosophically, the interplay between good and evil raises profound questions about the nature of morality. Is good an inherent quality of human existence, or is it defined by cultural norms and societal expectations? Additionally, the existence of evil prompts inquiry into free will, accountability, and the potential for redemption. Ultimately, the tension between good and evil serves as a mirror reflecting our struggles and aspirations, encouraging us to examine our beliefs and strive for a more just and compassionate world.

Steampunk Indio Collective and Artepintura Gallery invite visitors to the unmasking of their latest art exhibit, “Bonum vs Malum … An Existential Steampunk Art Pageant”, a fantastical universe where 1800 Filipiniana aesthetics collide with anachronistic machinery. This unique showcase features a curated collection of sculptures and paintings, all infused with the signature elements of steampunk—metallic masks, clockwork mechanisms, and heavy pollution brought about by primitive industrialization. Each piece embodies the eternal battle between good and evil, the struggle between light and darkness, and the conflict between the yin and the yang, presenting both heroic figures and nefarious villains in a way that is both whimsical and thought-provoking.

Are you ready to trudge the space between two opposing forces? Are you brave enough to lumber betwixt angels and demons? Then gear up with your best steampunk regalia and join us for an enchanting afternoon of existentialism, creativity, food, music, and fun on the opening of Bonum vs Malum, 3 pm Saturday 16 November at Artepintura Gallery, located at 1460 San Marcelino corner Escoda st. Ermita, Manila!
