Ballet Philippines’ 50th Anniversary Outreach Tour

 

 

CCP Outreach Brings Ballet Philippines to Mindanao-Visayas

To celebrate three milestones, the 50th Anniversary of the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) & Ballet Philippines (BP) and the 40th year of CCP’s Outreach programs, the CCP through its Cultural Exchange Department (CED) brings BP on an outreach tour in selected communities in Mindanao-Visayas this June 28 to July 10, 2019.

BP, the country’s premier ballet company celebrates 50 years of artistry and creative genius.  The company’s 50th Anniversary Outreach Tour is under the Lakbay Sining Program of the CCP CED & implemented in partnership with the CCP Kaisa sa Sining (KSS) Regional Arts Centers with support from the National Commission for Culture and the Arts.  The outreach performances are set on June 29 – 4:00 pm & 7:00 pm at the South Cotabato Gym & Cultural Center; July 3 – 4:00 pm at the RDR Gym in Tagum City; July 5-6 – 8:00 pm at the Luce Auditorium, Silliman University in Dumaguete City; and July 9 – 3:00 pm & 7:00 pm at the University of St. La Salle Coliseum in Bacolod City.

BP Founder-Artistic Director & National Artist for Dance Alice Reyes crafted an exciting program for the outreach tour which includes several masterpieces from BP’s dance repertoire. These include Valse Fantasie restaged by Adam Sage after Muñeca Aponte, Don Quixote Grand Pas de Deux after Petipa, Vision of Fire by Edna Vida, Moon by Kun-Yang Lin, Sama-sama by Ronelson Yadao, Pasayawa Ko Day by John Ababon, Bungkos Suite by Alice Reyes, and After Whom by Bam Damian III, and excerpts from Tales of the Manuvu also by Alice Reyes.

Aside from the performances, BP, led by Associate Director Ronelson Yadao, will also conduct workshops and lecture demos in the cities of General Santos City, Tagum, Dumaguete & Bacolod.  A live feed of the matinee shows will also be arranged exclusively for a chosen public school or underserved local community in each site.  The BP’s 50th Anniversary Outreach Tour is co-presented/organized by the Ramon Magsaysay Memorial College of General Santos and Marbel, Musikahan sa Tagum Foundation, Silliman University Culture and Arts Council-Dumaguete City, Negros Cultural Foundation, Negros Museum & University of St. La Salle Bacolod City.
