The Davao Oriental’s biodiversity and heritage visual arts exhibition.

From the word “Dyumdum” which means wisdom or perception, the art gallery will feature the works of 12 distinguished artists of Davao Oriental, who through personal experiences and perspectives have transformed their enchanting stories on nature, culture, and society into exquisite visual arts — paintings of naturescapes and culturescapes.

In this time of the pandemic, make sure you, your family, and friends get a glimpse of good art. After all, art heals, art inspires.

“DYUMDUM” is a term that comes from the Mandaya language synonymous with “YANUNGAN”. Like Yanungan, Dyumdum connotes and symbolizes wisdom, understanding, insight and/or perception. “Dyumdum”, in a sense, becomes the worldview of twelve individuals formed in their own experiential space of nature and culture through time. In turn, it has become a process of which the twelve individuals unravel their formed opinions on the world that they are part. Through the wistful strokes of their brushes, richness of the colors willfully used, and the enigmatic perceived images captivated in a likeness depicting Davao Oriental’s nature and culture. As such, communicating the immense tales of their world to themselves, their society and the world.

“DYUMDUM” is a visual arts exhibition that highlights the tales of twelve Oriental Dabawelios, virtuosos in their ways, exemplified in a wide range of masterful and insightful art masterpieces. With tales they communicate in their arts, these twelve individuals expressed to promote natural, social and cultural harmony in both secular and diversified spheres revealed through their artworks — naturescapes and culturescapes, full of love and passion hopeful in taking their part in the process of creation and affecting change in themselves, their society and the world.

“DYUMDUM” becomes an aggrupation of virtuoso and amateur visual artist from the province of Davao Oriental coming together to share their wisdom, understanding, insights, perception in a symbiotic relationship of enriching their arts, themselves and others.
