“Emovere” (Emotions in Motion), a solo show by Reach Dacanay at Gallery Red. Exhibit opens on June 9, 2021.

“Full of vibrance, full of emotions, full of passion.”

That is how Raeche Dacanay puts into words her choreography on canvas. For her third solo show, titled Emovere (Emotions in Motion), Dacanay and her dancers are in for yet another standing ovation.

The twisting, turning and twirling of Dacanay’s graceful, faceless performers in this show feel more pronounced and emphatic against the dark background. As always, everything in the expressionist painter’s works is in constant motion; not just the arms and the legs, but the detailed hair and the textured dress. Dacanay paints in a way that depicts dramatic movement, as she also dances and gets lost in the music and rhythm of her artistry as part of her creative process.

Whether it’s a solo act as in “Feel the Love” and “River Moving in You,” or a duet in “Grace to Grace,” Dacanay delivers the same impactful performance, both by her subjects as dancers and herself as an artist.
