The Creative Guild of the Philippines and PelikulaRed present Cannes Palm D’Or winner Raymond Red’s latest opus “Himpapawid” (Manila Skies). Inspired by true events, the film is one simple man’s journey into the bowels of Philippine society, culminating in the insane hijacking of a plane. “Himpapawid” was the closing film in the most recent Cinemanila Int. Film festival. It has also an Official Selection at the Tokyo, Dubai and Rotterdam international film festivals, and will soon be part of the Raymond Red Retrospective at the coming Hong Kong International Film Festival in March. The film is also groundbreaking as the first Filipino film totally shot on ultra high-definition digital and will exclusively be shown as Digital Cinema Package in ultra high-def 2K theaters.

Paul Schrader, screenwriter of “Taxi Driver” and “Raging Bull” hails Red’s film as a “terrific film!” Patrick Frater and Maggie Lee of The Hollywood Reporter rave, “a crushing and powerful tale” and “more radical than meets the eye … spectacular finale.” Local film reviewer Philbert Dy declares it, "...a masterclass in filmmaking".

Proceeds of the screening will fund the travel of two young Philippine creative teams to the Young Lions competition in this year’s Cannes Advertising Festival. “Himpapawid” will be shown at 7 pm, 16 February at Glorietta 4’s Cinema 3 Digital Theater.
