The Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival is a film festival in the Philippines held annually in the month of July at the Cultural Center of the Philippines. The Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival is a film competition and festival that aims to encourage the creation of new cinematic works by Filipino filmmakers – works that boldly articulate and freely interpret the Filipino experience with fresh insight and artistic integrity.

2012 Manila Film Financing Forum
by the Philippine Independent Filmmakers Multi-purpose Cooperative
July 21, 2012 / CCP Silangan Hall
The second edition of the 2012 Manila Film Financing Forum at the Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival will be an exclusive venue for two activities. A forward thinking business venture and practical solutions to new producers-filmmakers. Case studies will be presented and financing opportunities will also be provided.
The first activity will feature talks that will cover actors as producers, financing opportunities provided by the government and foreign experts . The second activity is a mini-project market where 20 selected participants will pitch their feature-length film projects in a speed-dating style to possible partners of the projects. This activity will follow the basic principles of project platforms such as Paris Project, the Berlinale Talent Project and the Pusan Promotion Plan but on a smaller scale.
Entry fees are : Php1,000 for filmmakers who are not member of the cooperative and Php500 for filmmakers who are already members of the cooperative.
Independent Film Congress

MAINSTREAM AND INDIES: Friends, Enemies or Allies? Are indie and mainstream really water-tight categories or are they necessarily porous in a country such as ours? Are they necessarily inimical to each other or can they work together in some ways? Can indie and mainstream actually learn from each other and thereby improve the quality of their respective productions and make these more meaningful and accessible to a wider majority of Filipinos? What can each one contribute to the formation of the national cinema and the nation itself?
The objectives of the film congress:
- to define the characteristics and mainstream filmmaking and clarify the relations between them;
- to see how indie and mainstream filmmaking can benefit from each other, if at all; and
- to establish how each can contribute to the development of Philippine Cinema, either together or independently of each other.
Entry fees are Php500 for non-students and Php250 for students.

FILIPINOS AS STORYTELLERS AND STORYSELLERS. It is a fact that there is a highly substantial film and animation talent that exits in the country. We have amazing stories to tell, not just for the local market but to the rest of the world. But the challenge is – how can we make it more commercially viable and available to be seen and appreciated by the public?
