Director-Writer E.J. Salcedo has lived half his life in the Philippines and in the United States, having finished high school and college in Houston, Texa s. An advertising graduate from t he U niversity of Houston, he was a memb er of the school’s 1995 National Advertising Champ ions.
With a wealth of varied experience from working at a fast food chain to serving in the U.S. Air Force, after graduation, E.J. chose to go home and work at J. Walt er Thompson Manila as a copywriter for brands like Sunsilk, Security Bank, Close-Up, Globe and more. Garnering a Rookie of the year award on his first year, his second year at the agency got him a nomination for an Araw Award -- local advertising’s top prize.
After a year of film school in 2000, E.J. put up a production house called Brass Knuckles Inc. with fellow director Topel Lee. Here, he currently produces, writes and directs various short-films, TVCs, corporate and music videos. In recent years, he has directed music videos for M.Y.M.P., Greyhoundz, and Dice and K9. His freelance directing works include corporate videos and TV commercials for Nestle Philip pines, Ericsson, Bayan Telecomm, Aboitiz Group, Meralco and more.
His broadcast directing portfolio includes T he Nestea Beach Volley Two-Hour Spe cial, ABS-CBN’s sports-reality show Kamao and wee kly TV special Nagmamahal Kapamilya.
His most recent and personal writing/directing project is a short film called Talahib – which is included in VIVA Digital’s groundbreaking full-length feature Imahe Nasyon. In 2007, the work garnered a Gawad Urian Nomination for best short film.
