Ricky Orellana has worked variously as sound recordist, film and sound editor, art director, director and animator on documentaries and short features. He is the rec ipient of several awards, among them Best Documentary Award at the 13th Gawad CCP Para Sa Alternatibong Pelikula At Video for Sa Maynila in 1989 and Best Student Film Documentary at the 8th Film Academy of the Philippines Student Motion Picture Awards for Sa Maynila in 1990.
He is currently the Head of the Audiovisual Archive at the Mowelfund Film Institute; Board member of the Society of Filipino Archivist for Film, Inc. (SOFIA), and the Animation Council of the Philippines, Inc. (ACPI); and Execom member of the National Commission for Culture & the Arts (NCCA) National Committee on Archives.
He has taught editing to several generations of Mowelfund filmmakers.
