The New Corona virus is the latest in a history of discrimination, exploitation, and oppression that has weaponized epidemics against national minorities.
This global pandemic is sparing no one.
But it poses a graver threat to the health and social wellbeing of the indigenous Lumad and the Moro people with their situation of already-chronic poverty, neglected health and social services.
Highly vulnerable are the Meranaws, who remain in evacuation centers after the Marawi siege, and the refugees at the Lumad Bakwit Schools who are in Manila — the virus epicenter — after fleeing their militarized communities in Mindanao.
