The historical biopic “Heneral Luna” has been chosen to represent the Philippines at next year’s Academy Awards for the Best Foreign Language Film category.
The development was announced on the film’s official Facebook page on Monday (September 21) afternoon.
Director Jerrold Tarog’s latest offering is hoping to become the first Filipino film to be nominated for Best Foreign Language Film.
In her review for GMA News Online, Sylvia L. Mayuga called the film “not only a masterpiece but a gift to the nation in another crucial moment of its history.”
The film has gained popularity and viewership in the Philippines over the past few days as buzz about the movie grew through word of mouth and social media.
