Mona Alcudia

Monica Alcudia (b. 1990) is a multi-disciplinary designer focusing on design research and critical storytelling. After receiving her bachelor’s degree in industrial design from UP Cebu, she designed extensively for the home accessories industry through Hive, a design collective under the creative direction of Kenneth Cobonpue. She recently finished her MA in Contextual Design from Design Academy Eindhoven in the Netherlands. Her master’s thesis focused on the Peacock Chair, a ubiquitous furniture piece originating from the handiwork of prisoners at the Bilibid jail in the Philippines. Her works have been exhibited in Cebu, Manila, Singapore, The Netherlands, Italy, and Germany. She is an assistant professor for the Product Design program of the University of the Philippines – College of Communication, Art and Design, and the manager of Fablab UP Cebu. In 2022, she co-founded Unosinotra, a product design studio.

In her creative practice, she explores non-linear narratives surrounding craft industries, digital fabrication, decoloniality, pop and internet culture, and the evolving dynamic between digital and traditional.
