Bianca Zaragoza of Benilde Dance Program accents individuality in “MONO”

Bianca Zaragoza of the Dance Program of DLS-CSB School of Design and Arts features “MONO”, a contemporary dance thesis production that zooms in on the thin line between conformity and individuality, to be staged on March 15, 7 pm and March 16, 1 pm and 7 pm at the 6/F Black Box SDA Campus.

“MONO” focuses on the innate human need to fit in. It highlights how the strive for social acceptance hinders most of us from weaving our own perspectives and from showing our distinctive qualities to favor societal ideals. The director’s contemplation toward societal expectations were exemplified through dance movements to create a statement on how such standards impedes us, at some point, from pursuing what we want and expressing who we really are. The production aims to acknowledge one’s uniqueness and chance to create a mark despite of the existing conformity around us.

The director/producer, Bianca Zaragoza, is currently taking up Bachelor of Performing Arts major in Dance in De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde as a scholar. She started her dance training in CCP Dance School at the age of 8. In 2011, she became a scholar for the CCP Dance School and had the opportunity to train in classical ballet and modern dance under renowned dancers and teachers. She has participated in several productions such as Tchaikovsky’s Classical Treasures, Coppelia, The Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, etc. Aside from dancing, she also participated as a backstage crew in various dance productions.

The show date will be on March 15 with 7PM show and on March 16 with 1PM and 7PM show at the 6/F Black Box Theater School of Design and Arts, De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde. Tickets are available at 9/F School of Design and Arts Campus and artlocaleph.com with ticket price of PHP 150 for Benildeans and PHP 200 for Non-Benildeans.
