Mulat – Eye Opener

Group Show

March 16, 2019
The Artologist
81 Xavier Street, Unit 203, Greenhillls, San Juan City 1500

Our show is about the idea of enlightenment, the state of being aware, being rational and irrational. We visually relay each and everyone’s philosophical, cultural and social take on awareness with regards to our personal struggles, issues, beliefs, ways, and concerns in life.

We aim to share our passion in the arts by showcasing our different styles, technique and skills, while correlating it somehow to a sport we are both passionate about which is basketball. Our interpretation of our works of art shows movement and strokes both reflective of arts and basketball.

Our Vision is to develop an understanding and appreciation of art’s complex role in reflecting and creatively expressing a changing world. To promote creativity, learning and growth to artistic practices, exhibition and artist-led shows and initiatives. * We chose The Artologist Gallery to showcase our artworks because our group believes it is a perfect venue in presenting our art pieces while bridging the gap between the artist and the community, creating a perfect environment which increases the viewer’s appreciation, awareness and participation in the arts.

Our team comprises both figurative and non-figurative representation so you can rest expect variety yet correlation of art pieces…

To speak of art as purely an expression is like separating an arm from the whole body. Art has its own function. Every art is an honest and passionate endeavor of the individual to create a masterpiece. Artists are not only gifted with skills but with a vision. This vision called point-of-view or perspective, has always accompanied artists with their journey consciously or unconsciously. Some combine grit and concept while others labor enumerable hours honing their skills believing that art must not lie. It must not be an artepiece, a metaphor or a parable to universal truths but rather, a pure depiction of what they see. Some use symbols to question their audience, some depict fleeting irnpressions; while others execute it into non.representational forms. Vague as it may seem for most, but for its creator, it is most profound.

Art will not be art with form alone; and art is not art with content alone. There are no in-betweens. Thought comes with creation, and production comes with thinking. Each artist can articulate their art whether by devices, or by words in a manner by which they are most comfortable with. Inspiration is always contextual. Artists may derive from history, mythology, religion, nostalgia, sociology, politics and the like; but at the end of the day, everything is personal. It is an honest autobiographic writing of his or her own belief, despair and aspiration. An awareness that only he or she can fully understand, and yet transcends in ways and levels to the receiver different from its original intent. That is the power of Art. It is a vessel. The beauty of telling a story through elements on the work by the use of figure, line, shape, texture, color, movement and composition that no exact number of words can explain.
