Obsidian bar and grill’s concept started over a cup of coffee at Starbucks Makati. A movie night with friends accidentally turned into a planning session when Emman Jimenez opened up his plans of putting up a bar. Normz Dellosa, once an independent music scene soldier, suggested the idea of making the bar a venue for both independent and established acts.
Obsidian bar’s construction started late January 2010 and was completed just in time for the chinese new year’s eve celebration. With the help of Sarkie Sarangay and his team, we worked on the band and stage setup in the afternoon and invited some of our friends in the evening for a few drinks.
After weeks of dry run, we invited some friends and bloggers for food tasting. Everything on the menu was prepared. After feasting on the food, a jamming session with some of our friends in the music industry followed.
When everything was all set, the Obsidian bar and grill weekend launch party was held. Terno Acts such as Musical O, Up Dharma Down, Sleepwalk Circus and Not Another Boyband performed on the first night of the launch. Revolver Productions hosted the second night of the launch and featured Chicosci, Paramita, Mayonnaise, Reklamo and Stonefree. The success of the launch led more events and bands to join the Obsidian Bar lineup.
Our goal is to offer quality food and drinks at the lowest price possible combined with good music and cozy atmosphere. Obsidian Bar and Grill is located at Unit 149/150 Bldg. C Ortigas Home Depot Complex #1 Julia Vargas St., Brgy. Ugong, Pasig City (Near the parking lot at the back).
