Exploring the possibilities of visual and conceptual cohesion within a process pre-determined by randomness.

The work is:

a pile of wooden dice with all “six” sides,
collage on wood blocks,
para silang swatches,
paintings deconstructed into patterned tiles,
An attempt to be more precise,
mga found objects/papers,
an assemblage, a sculpture, a painting,
spontaneous assemblages,
mixed media siya. Fabriano paper and tracing paper tapos photos using laser print and paint,
blurred and faded photos that feature different places that I’ve been to and/or passed by in my day to day life,
a series of snapshots, a three-dimensional work,
a snapshot documentation of the ever-changing landscape,
documentation of family members in moments of vulnerability,
a labyrinth using glass shards,
images reminiscent of Jacques Louis David’s La Mort de Marat
Images ng Ecstasy of Saint Teresa,
legs ng mga taong pumipila.

It is about:

going through and figuring out how to do this “humaning” thing,
a conscious overreaction,
different scenarios of incomprehensible pain caused by an amalgamation of disease and violence.
a sense of loss the artist feels when mental illness changes someone beyond recognition and the old self seems to have been erased,
a reflection of depression fallout—the effects of living with someone with mental illness.
an exercise for the artist to overcome a traumatic experience,
a cleanser for the artist because of the meditative effects of mindless scribbling,
a metaphorical gesture of attempting to break down and re-organize a racing mind,
gaining a sense of control within a situation and condition that one cannot fully control,
to desensitize herself of those memories,
finding some kind of solace in pattern-making,
the arrangement of the natural and unnatural elements observed, and everything else in its impermanence,
about memory, our local folklore, and our connection to the land,
the artist’s relationship with the natural environment and organic material,
pag-balance ng human and nature sa pamamagitan ng confusion of society,
it suggests a dystopian future of our reality,
my fascination of the lottery’s effect on people’s perception of hope and chance,
consumerism at conflict of interest ng mga tao sa material na mga bagay,
kung papano sila nakikipag deal sa object,
pag-consume ng mga material na bagay araw-araw,
it signifies my gradual arrival and abandonment of the featured places,
a responsibility to practice my art every day or as much as possible to remind myself to be attentive to the process, whether spontaneous or planned,
rejection of embracing monotonous consistency to “establish one’s style”,
represents my early attempts at visualizing concepts while preoccupied with work,
A homage to those whose artistry I admire,
a defensive action to abstain one’s self to the glamour of the art world,

How:

A gradient paint is affixed on top of the photos,
the visible surface will be covered with white glitter,
each work is mended with different process and medium,
formed to resemble a house plant box,
Instead of from the outside going in, it will be from the middle, going out,
abandoning the unlikely and lining up for what could be,
to accumulate thoughts, ideas, and concepts, as well as various objects
by using media that contradict each other’s nature: soot as air pollutant and encaustic as a natural preserver,
taking a part of different environments and bringing them together into your own space,
recreating or continuing dialogues began when I first saw their work,
repeatedly drawing an object that represents the said experience.

Because:

We don’t have time to process all this data. What was I supposed to do?
Air pollutants will eventually go down into our lands and water bodies through different natural phenomena such as rain and snow and would accumulate through time, altering what once so beautifully abundant habitats,
His death was mourned by everyone,
You can work hard to get to where you want to be. And when you’re there, there will be people who will convince themselves that you just got lucky,
It suggests exploration of a larger world in a microcosm,
It completes my studies on the dialogue between sculpture and painting,
I enjoy the challenge in trying to achieve a perfect shape or a form close to perfect, so long as my obsessive-compulsiveness will allow,
I am a firm believer that all artists take after previous generations, that we explore what our predecessors experimented on and created, until we outgrow and develop our own styles and techniques,
I want to now try to create something that is more structured and discipline myself to build on repetitive motions,
It reflects to my different approach and connection to the places seen in the photos,
I struggle to find time to produce works.
