Robert Nubla

Robert “Robbie” Nubla (August 15, 1955 – August 29, 2025) was a self-taught Filipino artist who painted everyday life with honesty and grace.

Born in Tondo, Manila, he discovered painting while apprenticing in small studios, learning by observation and persistence. He dedicated a lifetime to art, steadily refining his craft and finding meaning in portraying the quiet dignity of ordinary people. His early works captured rice fields, farmers, and village scenes—images rooted in community and labor.

As his style matured, Robbie drew inspiration from the places he lived—Tondo, Parañaque, Bacolod, and Iloilo. He became best known for his Mother and Child and Father and Son series, often portraying figures in traditional attire, caught in tender, human moments.

His paintings were shown in spaces such as Gallery Genesis, Heritage, Hidalgo, Alegria, and the Pines Hotel in Baguio, and in group shows like Kulay Tubig, Artists for Peace, and Tribute to Drawings. Through oil and watercolor, Robbie celebrated a life devoted to art—and to the beauty of the Filipino spirit.
