Unravelling Bettina: Raggle-Taggle brings together a selection of artists with varying methods and concepts – giving artists the liberty to express themselves in the nature of their own element. This group exhibit sheds light on contemporary art’s different perspectives, encouraging aesthetic integration and intellectual stimulation for its audience—breaking boundaries of art and exploring its infiniteness through diversity, connecting artists and their masterpieces into one.
Curator Malyn Bonayog has assembled her own raggle-taggle band of visual adventurers, namely: Emard Cañedo, Ian Casteñedo, Christian S. Culangan, Michael “Mael” De Guzman, Cristina Escario, Kiko Escario, Bam Garibay, Nina Garibay, Melvin Guirhem, Dave Lock, Mark Nativo, Jaypee Samson, and Mimi Tecson.
In assembling the show, Bonayog made use of the so-called “Mixed Method” which attempts to achieve the maximum aesthetic and intellectual stimulation through the use of seeming opposite or disparate parts or styles. The intent is to create a total sum that is greater than any of each individual artwork. The exhibition then should be viewed holistically – from the Greek “holos” meaning whole.
Of such surprising and teasing mix-and-match method does the show “Raggle-Taggle” tantalize the viewer with differing levels of wholeness and singleness.
