“Flowers are a proud assertion that a ray of beauty out values all the utilities in the world.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
In art, flowers can symbolize a number of things. It often represents beauty, but it can also represent sorrow, hope, pain, and joy. For whichever purpose or meaning, flowers are as significant as can be, and they hold such value in our lives. Though small and delicate, they possess an indescribable beauty that is simply irresistible. A single flower can tickle our fancy, lift our spirits, and perk up our days. It is a wonder how a small and impermanent thing can bring so much joy into our lives.
Pondering the significance of flowers in our lives makes you think about all the other small and minute details that happen every day that give us momentary happiness. How do we make such wonderful memories with fleeting moments? And how can the smallest of things bring such delight into our lives? Perhaps it is not the sheer grandeur or extravagance of simple things that brings us great pleasure, but rather our attempt to choose to see beauty even in the most mundane things.
“What a Lot of Flowers” is a beautiful and heartwarming group show featuring the works of talented Filipino visual artists, Mylene Quito, Edmund Andrada, and Aner Sebastian. Their works are a thing of simplicity, but they bring joy and delight to their audience. It aims to show its viewers how everyday mundanity can be a thing of beauty if only we choose to see the good in it. Art Elaan proudly presents “What a Lot of Flowers,” a three-man show opening on March 27, 2024.
