Theosophy Talks invites you to “Songs of the Soul”, a free public lecture and sitar performance by Farid Chishty Balgos this July 28 (Sunday)!

Is it possible to reach enlightenment through music? Join us for a in-depth odyssey into the performance of Indian Classical Music, its fascinating history and how modern-day Sufis, Hindis and Buddhists treat it as a spiritual practice. This will be capped by a half-hour musical performance with one or two sitars.

Farid Chishty Balgos is an accomplished musician and an initiate of the Sufi Chishti Order in India. He is a versatile performer of both Indian Classical Music and Philippine Indigenous Music, having trained under Prof. Joey Valenciano, the only Filipino who has mastered playing the sitar. He has tried to express mankind’s spiritual longing through music in various temples, concerts, spiritual gatherings and grassroots events.
