Rommel T. “Yao” Sampana’s fourth solo exhibition, “Fake Plastic Me”, is a new series of works composed of mannequins and nudes.
Engaging the eye of the viewers with the use of striking red backgrounds and bluish hue skin tones, “Fake Plastic Me” is about what occupies people these days. Using mannequins and nudes as the subject matter, these depict today’s society. We live in a different world called social media. Pretending to be someone else. Posting ourselves on the internet, faking our appearances. Sharing every seconds of our lives, showing off a perfect version of ourselves in the most inauthentic manner, devoid of the very heart & soul that makes us all human.
