People have talked and said time is an illusion — in Egg Fiasco’s first solo exhibition in 2021, the artist contorts then sways in what can only be vaguely expressed as a dense and tickling feeling into a sort of time warp and chaos. Though the undertones touch on unsettling notions felt today, the artist maneuvers still in his quirky and fanciful ways; navigating us not only with wonder, but now with a strange air of familiarity.
Egg Fiasco swings and balances on these tight ropes that pin him to today’s realities and then on to a sense of something else altogether — Awkward Reunion is both a face-off and homecoming to a sense of self.
About the artist
Filipino visual artist Egg Fiasco is known for combining supercharged imagery with refined aesthetic techniques to convey an enigmatic exploration into retro-futuristic and neo-graffiti themes.
His investigation of urban art, pop culture, folk arts, comic graphics, and tattoo culture parallels his graffiti work. His playful visual experimentations teeters on realities in contrast to his time and transfigures rigid and chaotic themes cohesively to push sensational boundaries.
The effects of his eclectic perspectives engages his audiences to traverse a multiverse of his own creation and excites the mind.
Born on December 2, 1985 in Manila, Philippines, Egg Fiasco immersed in the developing art culture and inevitably found roots with groups of urban artists that pushed the graffiti scene throughout the mid 2000s. Onward and alongside a brotherhood with like-minded artists, he works simply to expand the capacities of his medium to open possibilities for new expressive social systems.
