Sorok Uni Foundation, a non-profit for Persons Affected with Leprosy (PALs) and homeless street people, launched the 4th Sorok Short Film Festival this 2017 with the theme SANGKAY: KASALUNGAT, KAAGAPAY, KAIBIGANG TUNAY. This is in line with the objective of the foundation to raise awareness on various social issues thru film making. This year’s theme has been chosen to exhibit the value of true friendship ,above and beyond different conditions and circumstances, and to show its significance in either one’s life or even in achieving peace.
The festival with over 15,000 followers shall start with a Film Making Workshop for the participants to be held on August 19, 2017 at Intramuros, Manila. The said workshop will be facilitated by Award-Winning Director, Jim Libiran and will have two other Award-Winning Indie Film directors as speakers, Paolo Villaluna and Arvin Kadiboy Belarmino. The deadline of submission of entries is on or before October 31, 2017. Screening and Awarding Ceremony shall be held on November 30, 2017.
Sorok Uni Foundation and its partners, thru Sorok Short Film Festival, will be giving away One Hundred Thousand Pesos (P100,000.00), Fifty Thousand Pesos (P50,000.00), Thirty Thousand Pesos (P30,000) as cash prizes for the Major Awards. There are also minor awards such as Special Jury Prize, Voter’s Choice Award (based on online voting ), Best Director, Best Actor and Best Actress.
