“I explore understanding the particularities of life, or its relativity with human emotion in a society through scientific images such as microscopic images or cells and microorganisms.”

Japanese artist Atsuko Yamagata mounts her debut exhibition with Galerie Stephanie titled “Lovable Adorable Cells”. A self-taught artist, Atsuko’s paintings depict the transmutation of forms and shapes into living creatures, articulating ideas drawn from animism, biogenesis, or structure of living organisms— which are dominant influences in her works.
