Balangay Artists Association
The Balangay Artist Association is upholding its debut exhibition in 2020 on an Online platform through Artsteps.com. The collective is composed of 14 artists from different regions and artistic backgrounds, all from the Philippines. Some are from farther regions from the Metro or have deeply rooted essence which can be evident in the works they produce. Even at these most trying of times, Artists chose to cope through creation. The pieces about to be exhibited online are a culmination of their talents, struggle and plain drive to create. Their works made in confining times are defiant against many limitations we face.
During the pandemic, time stood still and because of the lockdown, space became scarce. Thus the Virtual Exhibit is entitled “Time Space”. The paintings to be shown in this exhibition is each artist’s interpretation of these key elements during these challenging times.
Time and Space represents a stand we all choose to take. A stand towards positivity. An act wherein as artists, we share what we are able despite the pandemic has been harsh to us all. As Contemporary artists, we would like to share a still light of positivity through art, and hopefully find willing hearts that can aid us find new homes for our artworks.
