Pinta Nueve – a group of PWU student artists from the 70s opens their 40th year homecoming exhibition – Pinta Nueve @ 40 at the HZB Hall of PWU. They have also chosen their Alma Mater as the venue for the launching of their monograph.
Pinta Nueve is a group of art students who became active in the 70s, in search of meaning in Philippine Art. Most of its members garnered major prizes in student art competitions during their creative sojourn at PWU. In appreciation of their contribution to the university, the then Ambassador Helena Z. Benitez even honored the group by gifting them with financial incentives to beef up their meager operational funds.
Coming from diverse artistic persuasions and backgrounds, they bonded together exploring innovative approaches in their artmaking — a process that has delineated the exploratory aesthetics and experimental character of the PWU Fine Arts.
