One day, Ragma was looking at a building construction site as it began raining and an idea, a specific emotion hit him. We pause, we take shelter when the rain comes but we go on with our daily lives when it stops. And sometimes, we stand under it knowing that it will pass. “Stand in the Rain” aims to capture this in-between moment; when the world is at a standstill as it prepares for its next steps. Ragma’s trademark meticulously drawn fine lines become both pause and motion, both building and rain, both man and nature. This is Jay Ragma’s third solo exhibition with the Gallery. He continues to surprise with different permutations of his signature style, continuously adding depth and (finely drawn) emotions to his art.
