Farley Del Rosario is one of the masters of whimsical, surreal art who continues to twist pop culture icons according to his own vision. This time he combines world-renowned artist Kaws’s X-eyed creations with Johnny Depp’s various film roles. This is very strange on paper, but on canvas, it’s a different thing—a wild, psychedelic, curious thing. And it is breathtakingly creative and beautiful. Kaws Companions frolic and act out scenes with Edward Scissorhands, Captain Jack, and Willy Wonka among others. The result is a unique, joyous, and grand play of pop culture alliance molded according to Del Rosario’s distinct marionette style. This is Farley Del Rosario’s second exhibition with the Gallery.
