After firmly holding on to life and hoping for the better, patients in Metro Psych Facility continued to see the beauty of life in the confinement of their facilities. They may be limited in space like us right now in the pandemic, their imaginations went beyond their four walls. Through painting, our partner patients have conceived of a fantastic and colorful world that they can freely access – whenever and wherever they need refuge. They formed a retelling of their experiences through the lenses that have witnessed significant suffering.
Now, these imaginations are set free for public viewing much like how they have set themselves free from the limiting space and body that they have. Umaalpas sila lagpas pa sa karanasang dinanas nila. Sasama ka ba?
From April 16th to 30th, The Grey Space Gallery presents “Alpas Pa,” an online showcase of artworks carefully produced by patients of Metro Psych Facility. Just like “Kapit Lang,” the percentage of sales goes to partnered hospitals, in support of mental health awareness.
