In her second solo exhibition, ND Harn’s “Forever Golden Hour” presents the artist’s nostalgic reflections of her travels with friends and the bittersweet journey of leaving for home. Continuing her practice of narrative storytelling through her exploration of printmaking, Harn contemplates on her longing to regain those peaceful experiences once more.
Embodied in her works is a yearning to revisit what’s “Golden”- a colloquial term for perfection as well as the hour in which the sun sits on the horizon. Through editions she communicates the repetitive pattern of remembering what has passed and questions it’s value with every iteration. While recurrent, these memories could also serve to illuminate the darkest of days as depicted by the setting of brightly colored origami against dark panoramic prints.
In this series Harn continues her use of self documented images and interprets them into print; subduing, saturating, folding, and repeating imagery as she goes. Acts of visualising and navigating through vulnerable emotions and thoughts. Through this exhibit she conveys her attachment to these memories; that despite the depths reminiscing can pull us into, we choose to remind ourselves of what we once felt before. And in her case, pure warmth.
