Animation Council of the Philippines, Inc. proudly presents Animahenasyon 13, an annual Philippine animation festival. This year’s theme is “Our Stories Matter”. This year, we aim to show how Filipino culture is just as complexed and multilayered as its people. Their stories and ideas can be developed into unique content that could propel the Philippine animation industry forward towards a future of locally produced films and TV series that connect with both local and global audiences.

Mikki Crisostomo studied film at the University of the Philippines, where she made “Bottled Star,” an animated short that cemented her love for the medium. It screened at Animahenasyon in 2010. After working a few years in post-production and public relations, she went to Columbia University, where she earned an MFA in Screenwriting and won Faculty Honors for her script “Career Criminals” at the Columbia University Film Festival. Shortly before graduating, she was selected to join the 2019 Film Independent Screenwriting lab. Fulfilling the prophecy of her name, she currently works for Disney TV Animation as a staff writer on an upcoming animated show called “The Owl House.” She likes to write fun and spooky things about strange and kooky people.

 

 

Carl Joseph E. Papa is a full time IT professional by day and a filmmaker at heart.

 

In 2018, Paglisan by Carl Papa won Best Picture, among other awards, during the Cinema One Originals Awards.

 

He is keen to telling stories about family, life and mortality. His animated short films (inay, The Princess, The Prince and Marlborita, eMo) and feature films: The Unforgetting (experimental) and Manang Biring (Animation) were all recognized locally and internationally. He just recently finished his 2nd animated musical feature film “The Leaving (Paglisan)” which won him another best film at Cinema One Originals Film Festival and was recognized in local award giving bodies.

 

 

Magoo Del Mundo is a corporate and branding Strategist specializing in, and pioneering the practice of Creative Intellectual Property (IP) Ecology in the Philippines. He brings 360 strategy, sustainability and cross-industry pollination to the practice and implementation of Creative IP. He is working alongside the Department of Trade and Industry, Film Development Council of the Philippines, Creative Content Creators Association of the Philippines (Sikap), Animation Council of the Philippines, Game Development Association of the Philippines and other Studios and Individuals who are venturing into Original Content to create practices & standards for quality and compliance.

He is constantly active in the different international content markets like MIPCOM, MIPJr in Cannes, France; Ottawa International Animation Festival in Canada, Kre8tif! in Malaysia, Asia-EU Cartoon Connection and Seoul Promotion Plan in Korea, and Asian TV Forum in Singapore. He is a Pitching Coach, a workshop & seminar speaker, and a consultant for IP development and representation; aside from facilitating international distribution and co-production deals.

He started his foray into IP in the adver-gaming industry and went on to work in the advertising, distribution and events industries. He is now very active in the Animation industry.

 

 

ROCKETSHEEP’s first feature film, “Saving Sally” won various awards in international film festivals including the Jury Prize at the Brussels Fantastic Film Festival, Portugal’s Fantasporto & the Seoul International Animation Festival.

Nicole Mendoza is the CEO/Creative Director of Half Wolf Entertainment Inc. Graduated Cum Laude from De La Salle-College of St. Benilde with a degree in Bachelor of Arts and Animation, she continued to explore the world of animation by working on local films, animated shorts, tv commercials, online games, and apps for international clients. Now, she is in charge of the overall direction of Half Wolf Entertainment Inc’s independent film entitled TALES OF THE EAST.

 

 

After graduating from Berklee College Of music in Film Scoring and Composition, Pancho Burgos-Goizueta got his first break working on the music department on TV shows like Jericho, Cane, and Harper’s Island for CBS. He also worked on Disney’s High-School Musical 2 and 3, The Cleaner for A&E and Common Law for USA among many other projects.

Pancho is a skilled keyboard and piano player. He has toured all over the world with artists like Naked Eyes (“Always Something There To Remind Me”, “Promises, Promises”), The Flirts (“Jukebox, Danger”), TransX (“Living On Video”). He is currently the music director for 80’s new wave-pop band When In Rome (“The Promise”).

Pancho currently lives in Los Angeles, and continues to write music for Film, Television and Multimedia.

 

 

Harvey Montecillo Tolibao was born in June 25, 1981 and raised in Malaybalay, Bukidnon, Philippines. Prior to breaking into comics, Harvey Montecillo Tolibao was a furniture designer, cartoonist, graphic artist, illustrator, web designer, tattoo artist and messenger. During these careers, Harvey dreamed of being a comic book artist. Initially inspired by the art of both Jim Lee and local Filipino comics, Harvey finally received his big break in 2007 from Marvel comics with an Iron Man Annual. Since then Harvey has worked on Psylocke, Heroes for Hire, Silver Surfer, Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic, Avengers The Initiative, War of Kings, Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time and many others. Harvey has been involved in DC’s New 52 relaunch, working initially on Green Lantern New Guardians and more recently on Green Arrow.

He started dreaming to be a Comic Book Illustrator in 1991 and start collecting local comics and inspired by foreign comic artist Jim Lee. He studied Information Technology and held down with various job including furniture designer, cartoonist, graphic artist, illustrator, web designer, tattoo artist and messenger, but he was determine to pursue his dream of becoming a comic book artist.

 

Harvey Tolibao

 

In 2007, Marvel gave him his big break on an Iron Man Annual. Since then he has been working as a freelance artist for Marvel Comics. He has worked on What If?: Civil War; Young Avengers: Hulking; Ultimate X-Men with Robert Kirkman; Secret Invasion Avengers: The Initiative Tie Up; Darkhawk; Snowbird; Nation X; he was popularly known for his mini-series, Psylocke (written by Chris Yost); X-Men: Hellbound (written by Christopher Yost); Uncanny X-Men and Variant Covers for Heroes For Hire. As the year 2011 begins, Harvey is working with Greg Pak and Stephen Segovia on the Silver Surfer Series. By the end of the year, DC gave him a shot for “Green Project,” it starts with “Sinestro Corps war,” then collaboration of the writer Tony Bedard on “New Guardians” Green Lantern series. Year 2012, DC had a deck shuffling and creates a new team Harvey and (written by Ann Nocenti) for Green Arrow series.

In the same year, Harvey Tolibao co-founded along with his team started to run HMT Studios and works on various Game Design for Japanese Game Companies. He was working on Zenescope and Valiant Covers and the new adventure along with homages Bond Girls known as Danger Girl of IDW. By the end of the year 2013, Harvey repossess in Marvel Company doing Uncanny X-force. At the same year, he then released his New Sketchbook 1888 where a collective of ballpoint artworks was published and launched in PopCon Asia 2013, Jakarta, Indonesia.

Later another amazing stuff happened when he do the most anticipated book X-Men V4 run beginning issue 18 with Marc Guggenheim and Darkhorse The Ghost Comic Book Series. Recently done the project with Beyond the BOX ‘BEYOND’ comics with Mervin Malonzo and Mannix Abrera.

 

 

Carlo Pagulayan is a freelance artist that got his first professional gig drawing Elektra for Marvel Comics, which paved way for him to work on Emma Frost, Marvel Adventures Fantastic Four, Iron man, Avengers, and most notably Planet Hulk with writer Greg Pak. The story arc served as inspiration for the 2017s hit movie Thor: Ragnarok, which also debuted the first MCU appearance of Korg and Miek, two characters Carlo co-created with Greg. He was also responsible for designing the look of Skaar, Son of Hulk. His most recent Marvel work can be seen in The New Agents of Atlas
Born and based in the Philippines, Carlo is largely self taught and constantly looks to improving his craft. His art is mostly credited for pencils, but since entering comics he has learned to color, digital paint and also digital sculpting, which has seen print in a few of Marvel’s book covers. In 2011 his bust sculpture of Planet Hulk was produced by Bowen Designs.

He graduated as an Industrial Engineer, but has always been enamoured with comics and the visual arts. Aside from Marvel Comics, his work has also seen print in Image Comics via Masters of the Universe, and a number of DC Comics titles including the Eisner nominated Deathstroke: Rebirth.

 

 

Gomesh Karnchanapayap

Born in Surin, one of North Eastern Provinces of Thailand, on 14 July 1977, Yong did his high school education at Samsenwittayalai School, Bangkok. During his last high school year, he participated in an exchange student program to study his senior year at Morris Town High school (New Jersey, United States of America). Yong gained a degree in Computer Science from California State University in 1999.

Yong worked in Computer Programming field focusing on Web technology for several years in California. He was also fascinated by Traditional and Contemporary Art. While working daytime as a programmer, he was honing his skills in traditional art and craft. His main interests are anatomy, creature design, and sculpting.

 

Gomesh Karnchanapayap

 

In the year 2004, Yong returned to his homeland, Thailand but continue his career in the field of computer and web industry. Through the years of practicing his sculpting skill, he was invited to teach at Silpakorn University and ZLA Digital Art Institute. Yong started teaching Digital Sculpting utilizing the cutting edge software, ZBrush, which permits highly detailed sculpture to be sculpted digitally and naturally.

In the year 2007, through M.R. Chalermchati Yukol, Yong was personally introduced to M.C. (Mom Chao) Chatrichalerm Yukol, Thailand’s legendary Film Maker and Mr. Kunakorn Sethi, one of the most respectful film producers. Yong decided to serve Prince Chatri in CG department and form a Visual Effect Company, Prommitr Visual Effect, Co., Ltd. Currently his team’s focusing on the upcoming film, King Naresuan III.

 

Gomesh Karnchanapayap

 

Actively involved in CG Society, Yong’s participated in several online competitions and has won several awards ranging from 2 Dimensional Paint work and the most recent 3D Sculpting award for creating a new breed of Super Hero(http://pixolator.com/zbc/showthread.php?t=66100).

In 2010, Yong has become a ZCI(ZBrush Certified Instructor). Currently aside from working full time as Managing Director at PMVX, on weekends Yong teaches Human Anatomy and ZBrush Digital Sculpting at Silpakorn University, Rangsit University, Mahidol University (International) and ZLA Digital Arts Institute.

 

 

Born in 1962. Kitaro Kosaka starts his career as an animator at Oh! Productions. After leaving the company on 1986, he has worked on many titles as the animation director and key animator for Studio Ghibli, such as Spirited Away, Grave of the Fireflies and Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind to name a few. He has also worked on many MADHOUSE productions, such as Yawara! and Master Keaton among others. He made his directorial debut with Nasu: Summer in Andalusia which was premiered at Cannes’ Directors’ Fortnight in 2003. In 2014, Kosaka was awarded as Best Animator for Director Miyazaki’s The Wind Rises at Tokyo Anime Award Festival.

 

Film Screening Schedule

 

Join us on November 8, 2019 for a film screening of Okko’s Inn, followed by a Q&A Session with the Director, Kitaro Kosaka and Producer Masahiro Saito!

Only teasers of the Animahenasyon 2019 Finalists will be shown during the conference so make sure to watch the full screenings on November 11!

We’ve also got short films from Ars Electronica, an Austrian Animation Festival’s Young Animations curated by Sirikit Amann.
