Carmela Geisert

Self-taught artist Carmela Geisert is a hotelier by profession, drawing on her inspiring moments of dreamy contemplation amidst the lush greenery and proximity to the beach in the paradise island of Palawan and elsewhere. As she gathers her life experiences on travel, photography, fashion, and leisure, she fills her canvases with instinctual gestures often reflecting her moods and meandering thoughts. She started sketching using charcoal and pastel crayons in 2016 to pass off the time during long haul flights, her portraiture and human figure sketches characterized by confident lines. She also found her way naturally to creating fluid art, mixing acrylic paints to create interesting random patterns that follow the character of the paints that she pours on canvas.

Geisert has been recognized by her Alma Maters PATTS College of Aeronautics Outstanding Alumni Awardee in 2017 and Colegio de Santa Ana as Outstanding Alumni for excellence in entrepreneurship and in fine arts in 2020.

She is drawn to the modernist style of Pablo Picasso which prominently figures into her early works. Artists such as Jackson Pollock, a major American figure known for abstract expressionism, as well as French Post-Impressionist painter Paul Gauguin and Mexican painter Frida Kahlo are other influences.
