Synopsis:
It’s been years now since his beloved Beatrice has died.Dante, destroyed by the loss, lost control of his life and nothing seems able to help him. It ‘s the white Beatrice, from Paradise, that asked wise Virgil to rescue him. Dante is given the chance to understand, through a long journey in the afterlife, the value of life.Dante is forced to go through Hell, facing a journey full of hardships and struggle to overcome the mountain of Purgatory to get in the front of the light of the Empyrean. It is not just a physical journey, but also a spiritual one; coming across many wandering souls, Dante discovers the consequences of every action on earth and the future that lies ahead of him if he keeps pursuing certain life choices. His past overwhelms him, memories are grabbing and shaking his heart but through Virgil’s guidance Dante has an opportunity to overcome his fears. It’s only when his Master is forced to abandon him that Dante needs to be brave and protect himself from harm; he must conclude the journey started and be able to go back to tell the tale. Through a film that makes you think about our daily actions, the director picks up a challenge: to adapt the Divine Comedy, a world literature milestone, to modern days using the most advanced technologies and innovating the ways for culture divulgation. Luca Lussoso paints an elaborated afterlife, filled with details to which give the hunt meticulously between the lines of the Divine Comedy.

De La Salle University
2401 Taft Avenue, 1004 Manila, Philippines
The Commedia Caravan is a half-day teaching seminar on strategies for and methods of teaching Dante’s The Divine Comedy to high school and college students. Drawing on insights from DLSU’s five-year experiment with a learner-centered teaching framework called Transformative Learning, the Caravan will feature full-time and part-time faculty members of the DLSU Department of Literature sharing lessons and techniques for teaching the Commedia.
The emphasis will be on pedagogy rather than content, so the strategies and methods shared can be easily adapted to teach all parts of the Commedia, as well as other classics.
The Caravan will target 80 to 100 secondary- and tertiary-level teachers from schools in Manila. It will be held at De La Salle University on 14 November 2015 (Saturday), from 0730-1200H. The Caravan will be free of charge, and participants will receive seminar kits and a certificate of attendance upon completion.
