“He hath made everything beautiful in His time”

Ecclesiastes 3:11

Inspired by the profound biblical words of Ecclesiastes 3:11, Grupong Tomasino 2023 from the University of Santo Tomas College of Fine Arts and Design – Painting Program in coordination with the UST Uste Atelier Assoc and Blue Matiz Art Gallery, Megamall, proudly presents “In His Time” GRUPONG TOMASINO 2023, an annual art exhibition celebrating the creativity and artistic prowess of the UST CAFA and CFAD alumni artists. This year’s exhibition wishes to invoke contemplative views on beauty, to find meaning beyond the unseen, and appreciate the passage of time by looking back on the past, reflecting on the present, and waiting in eagerness for what lies ahead in the future – all-encompassing His divine creation.

Now more than ever, time and existence are valued and appreciated. To live in the moment allows us to recognize our life, our experiences, the people we meet, and the places that surround us. A heightened sense of appreciation for time and space is evident. “In His Time” invites artists to explore and interpret the theme of time, accentuating the beauty that is manifested in each of the different stages and moments of existence. From birth to death, growth to decay, triumph and adversities, the passage of time provides inspiration to an ever-changing canvas for artistic expression.

Each artwork offers a unique perspective on the theme, providing the viewers multi-faceted glimpses to the momental influences of time vis-a-vis humanitarian experiences. The artists draw inspiration from a wide range of sources, including personal narratives, cultural heritage, social and economic issues, and spirituality. This diversity of inspiration fosters a rich tapestry of ideas and emotions as evident in the artworks.

“In His Time” seeks to uncover the inherent beauty in life’s ordinary and extraordinary aspects. The exhibit highlights the alumni artists and their introspective works, challenging the viewers to think about the world in new and different ways, to evoke feelings of joy and enthrallment, to be inspired to action, to raise awareness on important topics, and most importantly, to provide a sense of purpose and meaning to life itself.
