Artists’ Pool
The last round of the Artists’ Pool. Over the past three months, you have supported us, as we have supported the frontliners of PGH Emergency Ward and the Bread of Salt Initiative.
We are continuing our efforts to support the BREAD OF SALT INITIATIVE for June 2020. There are more hungry and jobless people now, as many livelihoods of daily wage earners and the contributors of the informal economy have been put on hold, for what is now the longest COVID-19 lockdown in the world.
Bread of Salt is a tripartite partnership between Donors, Community Organizations and Local/Community Bakeries which efficiently provides food assistance to those in need during the Quarantine/Lockdown. They have so far provided for more than 2,000 families in vulnerable communities at Quezon City, Valenzuela, Caloocan, Antipolo, Pasig, Marikina, and Manila. And have enabled 14 partner community bakeries to survive in the process.
By buying artworks from the ARTISTS’ POOL, you are ensuring that BREAD OF SALT Initiative delivers help to those most vulnerable, as well as ensure that the artists of Artists’ Pool also continue with their practice. THIS IS THE FINAL ARTISTS’ POOL ACTIVITY.
In the past two months, we have been able to create livelihood for many of the artists who pitched in for this activity. And through the sale of their works, we have also been able to raise P242,000 for our two beneficiaries – the PGH Emergency Ward Frontliners and the Bread of Salt Initiative communities. COVID-19 and the lockdown we have all gone through has created a lot of uncertainties and loss for almost everyone in the community. However, it also showed us that we pull together in times of crisis, and rise up to their challenge. It brought out the best in us, certainly among our artists who were quick to respond, and those who supported the cause by buying their works.
The three-months that ARTISTS POOL existed coincides roughly to those crucial period that we are all hopefully exiting from.
As we put on our last show, and bid you all good bye, we thank you for all the support, and wish you all safety. In behalf of all the 32 artists of Artists’ Pool, and all the beneficiaries, we thank you. As we transition to the new normal, and start shipping all the artworks that have been bought, we wish you all the best!
