𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗱𝗿𝗼 𝗪𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲

There is a quote that says, “The aim of art is to represent not the outward appearance of things, but their inward significance”. In a digital world, one would ask, “What should a painting look like?”. Artist such as Cecily Brown often delves into the realm of profound vagueness. At first glance, her artworks seemed like random bold strokes yet if you perused intently, the opera-like images will gradually creep up on you—like a panther ready to pounce on its prey. You will suddenly be overwhelmed by an epiphany of graceful imagery. Such is art’s efficacy upon humans.

Quadro, the year-end event of Galerie Roberto, showcases diverse artworks from different artists. Roused by the ambiguous, noisy and distracted world, these various artists each present their own distinctive style with great panache. Each one displays broad strokes that exposes the imbalance in our society and in ourselves.

Due to all the alluring hindrances of this age, we often forget to take a moment and admire the beauty, adversity, poetry, and absurdity in our every day lives — a somewhat mundane yet of utmost importance. Regardless of the deluge of different kinds of art, these artists strived to capture the emotion and subtle anecdote of life through their own lens and into the canvas. It takes the artistry, ingenuity, forbearance and passion of the artists to catch it all in one work of art.
