RE-CALIBRATED is a multi-media exhibit that draws inspiration from the “calibration” process, which corrects the values in a measuring device for it to be reset to a dependably known measure. RE-CALIBRATED relies on the visual sense to recognize things and matter, visual memory and experience will make the audience examine their pre-socialized selves, awaking their dormant sensations and realizing their place in contemporary life.

Our perception of life is brought by visceral experiences and lived memories amidst rapid and massive information brought by internet. And yet, our pre-virtual selves are instantly and openly examined while seen as the value of our existence. Intimate becomes public by just a click submitting bits and pieces of personal selves o virtual space  often without control. Is digital citizenship truly a gift or does it simply provide a false sense of connection? Indeed, it is a democratic vehicle that affirms our existence in space and time and yet it is known that one must caution of possible repercussion in real life for any e-activity made. Scanning the relationship between virtual space  and real time reveals expressive possibilities in visual forms.

Faculty members of Design Foundation of School of Design and Arts of the College of St. Benilde explore the narratives of mediated environments and approaches to digital mediation and spatial experience.

The exhibit is curated by Noel Farol and it is to be shown at the Altro Mondo Gallery at the Picasso from February 9 – March 5, 2017. The exhibit is free of admission and will feature works by the Design Foundation Faculty of the De La Salle – College of St. Benilde’s School of Design and Arts. The Picasso is located at 119 L.P.
