through Cinematheque Centre Manila

“SINENG MALAYA: Freedom in Philippine Cinema”

a PANEL TALK on the many forms of cinematic freedom in Filipino films in the last hundred years
with Mr. Khavn Dela Cruz, Ms. Kiri Dalena, Mr. Joselito Altarejos,
Mr. Rox Lee, Mr. Nick Deocampo and FDCP Chair Liza Diño-Seguerra
with
Mr. Tito Valiente as a Moderator.

 


 

Khavn De La Cruz, filmmaker, poet, songwriter He has made 47 features and 112 short films since 1994. His latest film Balangiga: Howling Wilderness recently won Best Picture in the recently held Urian and FAMAS awards.

Joselito ‘Jay’ Altarejos, accomplished Filipino filmmaker well known for his ground-breaking openly gay-themed film features like Ang Lalake sa Parola, Ang Lihim ni Antonio, Kasal and Tale of the Lost Boys.

RoxLee, Filmmaker/animator
A pioneer of independent film animation in the Philippines. His originality as an animator and filmmaker, created a modern Filipino style and philosophy of filmmaking.

Kiri Dalena, a visual artist, filmmaker and human rights activist who lives and works in the Philippines. Her work deals with issues of political and social injustice, drawing from events in Philippine history.

Nick Deocampo, multi-awarded Filipino filmmaker, film historian, film literacy advocate, film producer, author and the director of the Center for New Cinema.
