Free Outdoor Concert
Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra Concert at Makiling
The Cultural Center of the Philippines, in cooperation with the University of the Philippines and Philippine High School for the Arts presents the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Maestros Herminigildo Ranera and Yoshikazu Fukumura in a concert on May 4, 2019, 6pm at UPLB Freedom Park in Los Baños, Laguna. The outdoor concert is open to the public.
Entitled “Symphonic Sunsets at Makiling”, the first part of the concert consists of Overture on Philippine Folksongs (George Bernard Green), Selections from Les Miserables (arr. Bob Lowden), Terre e Luna (Earth and Moon) arr. by Pipo Cifra, Eraserheads Suite (Ryan Cayabyab) and Bohemian Rhapsody/Queen medley. The second part includes Gioacchino Rossini’s Overture to La Gazza ladra, Johann Strauss Jr.’s Annen Polka and Emperor Waltz, and Nicanor Abelardo’s U.P. Naming Mahal (arr. Edwin Lumanug).
Likewise, the Manila Symphony Orchestra will perform on May 18, 2019, 5:00pm at the Tanghalang Maria Makiling of the National Arts Center in Makiling.
The event is a symphonic concert of light classics and pops, affording audiences the rare experience of live orchestral music against the beautiful backdrop of sunset in the mountains.
