In the labyrinthine realm of visual art, a creative luminary has emerged, captivating audiences with his enchanting creations. Achacruz, born on the auspicious day of April 14, 1956, has woven a tapestry of existentialist contemplation and spontaneity, inviting viewers to embark on a journey of introspection and wonder. With a foundation in Fine Arts Advertising from the prestigious Far Eastern University in the mid-70s, Achacruz has nurtured a distinctive visual language that dances on the canvas, whispering the secrets of the human condition.

Throughout his illustrious career, Achacruz has graced the walls of esteemed galleries and exhibitions. From the bustling streets of the metro to the hallowed halls of the Cultural Center of the Philippines, his artistic prowess has been showcased and celebrated. In 2021, he joined the artistic pantheon of top contemporary artists and emerging talents in ‘In Celebration of Creativity,’ an homage to Junyee at the Altro Mondo in Makati.

 

Yob Achacruz’ “Not So Many Moons Ago”

 

The milestone year of 1996 marked Achacruz’s inaugural solo exhibition at the Alliance Française Makati, where he unveiled his unique artistic vision to the world. Four years later, in 2000, he presented his enigmatic creations at his second solo exhibition in the intimate space of the Small Gallery at the Cultural Center of the Philippines.

Achacruz’s creative spirit has also been known to converge with other extraordinary talents. In 2004, he teamed up with Dante Perez for a remarkable two-man exhibit at Syano Artlink, and in 2005, he collaborated with Alan Rivera to unveil a mesmerizing display at Galerie Astra.
